Fashion Icons Going Vegan

It’s Fashion Week in New York right now and animal rights has always been a hot topic in fashion. Which designers have vowed never to use fur and who still does is always a big debate.
Tom Ford has been Vegan for about a year after watching “What The Health.”
He told Women’s Wear Daily, “When you look at how most of our meat, our animal products are raised, from a health standpoint, I didn’t feel that I should eat those things anymore.”
The decision to go plant-based has influenced his creative choices as founder of his fashion brand.
The life-long vegan designer Stella McCartney does not use leather skins, or fur in any of her products.
UK designer Vivienne Westwood is a longtime vegetarian, and renounced using fur in her designs after learning about the cruelties of the fur industry.
Calvin Klein announced in 1994 that he would no longer use fur due to “my own reflections on the humane treatment of animals”
Fashion icons are one of the many groups making changes leading us toward the humane treatment of animals. The innovation around the uses of environmentally friendly materials is showing up on runways worldwide.
As PETA’s anti-fur campaign told us, “We’d rather go naked then wear fur.”
